Softening Nonwovens:

Nonwoven producers worldwide use the Micrex®/Microcreper to add stretch, softness, bulk and drape to nonwoven substrates. Micrex converted products are used as wipes, sewn into medical gowns, as absorbent linings, and a large variety of other applications. New products are regularly being developed through Micrex’s continued close association with our customers’ R&D programs.

Example: Medical papers, processed on our "rigid retarder" configuration are used for surgical gowns, drapes and other "Operating Room" applications. These products benefit greatly from the Micrex process. Comfort, noise, and absorbency are all improved. For high end product, Micrex is an industry standard.

Example: Sontara® wiper processed on the comb roll configuration of the Microcreper to increase softness, drape and bulk. A fine embossed pattern is also imparted to the surface of the wiper. Since the Micrex/Microcreper is a mechanical process, there are no dangerous chemicals or effluents to deal with. Further, since the process is a dry process, no steam or drying is needed -- minimizing operating costs.
