Paper & Cellulosic Composites:

Paper makers and converters worldwide have utilized the benefits of crepe paper to enhance their products. Historically there have been two ways to add stretch and extensibility to these substrates -- traditional wet creping and the Clupak process.  Unfortunately the use of these technologies have only been confined to a limited range of materials. Further high energy costs and low operating speeds has limited the number of applications of these methods.

The development of the Micrex/Microcreper provides a third option for manufacturers looking to enhance the performance of their paper and engineered cellulosic substrates.

The Micrex Process consists of nine applicable technologies for creping a wide range of materials. Since it is a dry process, there are no waste or environmental concerns. Operating speeds of over 300 meters per minute are obtainable on certain substrates.

The characteristics of creped paper processed on the Micrex/Microcreper differs considerably from that processed by other technologies.  No steam or adhesive is used in processing (eliminating the wetting and drying of the paper), resulting in a much softer crepe.  Papers that cannot withstand creping due to low wet strength can be processed on the Micrex/Microcreper.

Microcreper systems are designed to be operated by a single operator. The digital drive systems, available in DC or AC, run at speeds up to 300 meters per minute depending upon substrate conditions.  Complete turnkey systems consisting of all ancillary equipment are available, or the Microcreper may be purchased individually and matched with ancillaries of the customer’s selection.

Micrex through its contract manufacturing program can produce truck load sized lots of material on our in-house lines. This facilitates market testing and initial inventory building without significant investment.
